The Trends Start Here....See the "Best Boats On Water".  Check out New and Pre-Owned Vessels in the Under 80' Category at the Yacht & Brokerage Show, February 11-15, 2010

If you love sport fishing, power cruising or boats full of gadgets, the Yacht & Brokerage Show, on Collins Avenue and the Indian Creek Waterway in Miami Beach, will be the marina of your dreams from February 11-15, 2010.  Sure, you can shop for one of the superyachts, but don’t forget the spectacular array of boats under 80’ that feature some of the industry’s most advanced technology and exceptional features.  Sometimes the best things really do come in smaller packages! Here is a sample of boats under 80’ being showcased this year:

billfishINTERNATIONAL DEBUT: Ocean Yachts – 37' Billfish Sportfisher
When you are out on the open waters trying to reel in the big one, you need a boat that has the stamina and power to outlast that elusive fish and the design features to easily hook it and bring it on board.   The 37 Billfish is the first model in an entirely new boat line with a look harkening back to the rugged, classic fishing boats of the 60’s, but with a modern twist.  Like other Ocean Yachts, the 37 BF has a flybridge, but also incorporates a fully instrumented lower helm for the hands-on captain who wants quick access to the cockpit.  She is an “all-weather” boat designed with a “quick-to-the-rod” dynamic, boasting high visibility and draft reducing propeller pockets. Her sophisticated hull design and twin 480 MHP Yanmar 6LY3-ETP diesels produce speed of 35 knots, making her an angler’s perfect catch.

grabd banksSHOW DEBUT: Grand Banks Yachts – Heritage Series 41EU
Making their debut appearance at the Yacht & Brokerage Show this year, Grand Banks Yachts has a grand showing with a new addition to their legendary Heritage Series -- The 41EU (EU = extended salon version vs. the CL = classic tri-cabin).  The 41EU has a truly state-of-the-art propulsion system that results in a smooth ride at 10 and 24 knots alike.  She handles tight slips and choppy waters yet impresses with her luxury as well as her performance. Fine upholstery appoints the salon with teak accents throughout.  Her gourmet galley is generous for a boat this size, with an under-counter microwave leaving the Corian-topped counters open for workspace.  Both the master stateroom and guest suite are oversized and contain plush bedding, ambient lighting and innovative storage solutions in both.

U.S. DEBUT: Maritimo USA – Maritimo 56
The latest in Maritimo’s line of award-winning motoryachts is the 56’ flying bridge cruiser, a striking yacht that is marking Maritimo’s grand entrance as a new exhibitor at this year’s show.  Her slim profile has more rake to its bow and is slightly longer than previously seen on Maritimo models.  She also has the first flying bridge design from the company that does not have their trademark wings as the 56 is being marketed for cruising, not game fishing.  Despite the lack of “wings,” the 56 retains many of the features that Maritimo is popular for, among them:  the convenient internal staircase to the bridge, sage and spacious walk-around side deck, and the fuel-efficient variable deadrise hull with the nine-degree shaft angle.  Accommodations include three cabin layouts, with aft galley and forward helm position in the flybridge.

vicem57U.S. DEBUT:  Vicem Yachts – Vicem 57 Sportfish
Vicem Yachts’ newest sportfish model, the 2009 57 Sportfish, carries on the Vicem tradition of timeless design and exquisite detail that is evident on all Vicem yachts, but is built and ready for tournament-style deep-sea fishing.   The 57 SF interior living areas feature ample layouts and berths, leather furnishings, marine-grade hardware and fixtures, and sumptuous use of solid Kyaha mahogany wood for walls and cabinetry and Ducia mahogany or teak for flooring.  Outside the salon doors, the 57 SF is a tournament-level sport fishing boat outfitted with twin 1,800 hp MAN engines; tuna tower; stainless steels shafts, rudders, rod holders and rocket launchers; aft cockpit with fighting chair with footrest, live bait station and prep table, and more.

ocean aleaxander 60SHOW DEBUT: Ocean Alexander – Ocean Alexander 60' Trawler
Though first seen at 2009’s Palm Beach International Boat Show, Ocean Alexander’s 60’ Trawler is making its Yacht & Brokerage Show debut this year.  The 60-footer is designed for long-term cruising at a surprisingly brisk top speed of 15-15.5 knots, thanks to a gel-coated fiberglass hull and twin Caterpillar C-7 inboard engines.  Her interior is perfectly outfitted for long journeys as well, boasting every amenity one might need (or want) for the long haul.  Her layout can be configured for three queen staterooms or two staterooms with a storage area equipped with a large-capacity freezer.  Priced at $1.6 million, she boasts a salon appointed with teak paneling, an L-shaped, built-in banquette with a view of the 32-inch LCD TV on a high-low lift and top-of-the-line electronics throughout.  The galley features Silestone countertops and a Sub-Zero refrigerator among its many accoutrements.  Access is a breeze with a stairway that leads from the salon to the pilothouse and a second control station on the flybridge.

INTERNATIONAL DEBUT: Hatteras Yachts – 60 Motoryacht
Hatteras Yachts continues the year-long celebration of its 50th Anniversary by making a stunning design debut at the 2010 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show. Already a popular model, the Hatteras 60 Motor Yacht underwent an intensive design review this past year. With input from dozens of Hatteras customers plus owners of competitive products, Hatteras totally redesigned the interior spaces and added square footage to the master stateroom and head, as well as the galley and salon, with an innovative approach to layout and construction that makes this boat the largest 60-foot motoryacht you’ve ever been on. The unique design theme that flows throughout the boat combines exotic woods with dual tone wall coverings and padded panels. This creates a continuous and open environment that leads you gracefully from the aft deck all the way to the full-beam master and beyond. More space and more luxury usually come with more expense, however with this model, the base price actually is more affordable than its predecessor.

serenity 68SHOW DEBUT: Cheoy Lee Shipyards – SERENITY 68
Cheoy Lee has taken the concept of an economical, efficient and seaworthy hull and improved on the traditional trawler with the Serenity 68 Long Range.  With a fresh look designed by David Bentley Industrial Design in Australia, a structural design by High Modulus in New Zealand and an interior by Sylvia Bolton Corporation, the 68 crosses oceans as easily as it meanders along the coastline, and it looks good doing it.  Though a luxury boat, she is still economical as she cruises with a fuel usage of 30 liters per hour at 8 knots.  Her walk-around decks have ample bulwarks complimented by well-anchored 316 stainless railings for ease of access and safety.  She is also well outfitted with a spacious salon, fully equipped galley, four staterooms each with their own en suite, large flybridge with BBQ entertaining and alfresco dining on the deck, and twin generators.

U.S. DEBUT: Sunreef Yachts – 70 Sunreef Power Catamaran SEA BASS
After a stunning debut at Cannes, the 70 Sunreef Power SEA BASS is proud to call the Yacht & Brokerage Show her home.  This exclusive model has a modern design, elegant topside, fancy gadgets and top-of-the-line electronics and is the first Sunreef power cat to be delivered to U.S. customers.  SEA BASS is a semi-owner cat with two equal master cabins with private en suite heads.  Two luxury mid-ship cabins also with en suite heads feature large picture windows for spectacular views.  The voluminous main salon has a modern and minimalist design combining dark wenge with Finnish birch and silver grey alcantara.  The spacious lower helm station handles all controls and electronics, a massive task given all the gadgets including the highly innovative NavyBus electrical system by Navylec that controls all interior and exterior lighting by remote control.

SHOW DEBUT: The Egg Harbor Group – Davis 70 Sportfisherman

The Davis 70 SF exhibits all the characteristics of a truly custom yacht, from her unmistakable sheer line to her breathtaking interior.  She is an agile and nimble yacht, able to keep up with a fighting marlin or maneuver into a tight slip.  The grand salon is designed to pamper with luxurious seating around a hand-finished, custom teak cocktail table, a built-in wet bar, wine captain, stereo surround system and flat-screen TV with a DVD player.  A generous span of counter space in the fully equipped galley makes entertaining a breeze.  An elegant curved staircase portside leads to the cathedral ceiling master stateroom amidships and features a king-sized bed with a full-size hand crafted mirror and custom carved cabinetry.  The honey onyx master head is large with many designer accents along with a steam bath in the shower.  Of course above deck she comes fully stocked with every fishing amenity one could dream of, making her an angler’s delight.

SHOW DEBUT: Nordhavn – 75 Expedition Yachtfisher
With its new 75 Expedition Yachtfisher (EYF), Nordhavn proves that a vessel built for serious sportfishing can also provide the “green” fuel-sipping economy and live-aboard luxury that every Nordhavn is known for.  Her 3,000-mile range and cruising speed fuel burn of approximately 15 gallons per hour, a trickle compared to a typical sportfisher, is sure to change the way blue-water anglers think about sportfishers.  The Nordhavn signature full-displacement hull affords her owner, guests and crew the quarters of a small ship – six heads and berths for nine in five staterooms, including one abaft the wheelhouse.  Her hull also allows for the extra weight of tile floors, marble sinks, granite countertops and acres of exquisite wood paneling and furniture.  This is a rugged sportfisher equipped with every high-end fishing amenity but sporting an interior fit for a luxury yacht.

viking 76INTERNATIONAL DEBUT: Viking Yachts – Viking 76 Enclosed Bridge Convertible
Viking’s 76 Enclosed Bridge Convertible has yet to have her grand debut, but she is already turning heads at the yard.  Her dramatic sheer line and classic flush foredeck make for a striking profile and a pair of fixed port lights also match the hull’s sweeping design statement.  The interior is as luxurious as one has come to expect from Viking, but it is in her development and performance that the 76 truly shines.  After tank testing during the development of the 76, Viking’s design, engineering and production teams were able to shave off unnecessary weight making her a faster model than the 82’ flagship.  Viking’s proprietary VIPER (Viking Independent Programmable Electro-Hydraulic Rudder) steering system optimizes response and reduces drag at low, mid and high speeds for extraordinary maneuverability in all conditions.  Veem Interceptor S class propellers are quiet and a perfect match for speed and efficient operation. Caterpillar and MTU diesels are offered as power choices and depending upon engine selection, the 76 Convertible will cruise in the mid 30-knot range with a top end of 40 knots.

The Yacht & Brokerage Show offers free admission to the public and features new and pre-owned yachts ranging from 30’-160’, visit www.showmanagement.com to find lodging/travel information, transportation information and to plan your show in advance.
