Superyachts Reserve Their Place for the 51st Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Cakewalk News As planning continues for the 51st annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show®, the largest in-water boat show in the world, taking place from October 28 through November 1, 2010, superyacht manufacturers are beginning to jockey for a piece of the in-water action. This year fans can expect quite a show.

Among the $3 billion worth of boats, yachts, super yachts, electronics, engines and thousands of boating accessories from every major marine manufacturer and boat builder across the globe that will be at this year’s show, reservations have already been confirmed for a few very special yachts.

Derecktor Shipyards will be debuting Cakewalk.  At 281 (85.6m) feet and 2,950 tons, this Cakewalk surpasses her four predecessors in size and is the largest yacht built in the U.S. since the 1930s, and possibly the biggest ever built in the States when measured by volume.  Styled by internationally acclaimed yacht designer Tim Heywood, Cakewalk is truly a modern classic, evoking the timeless elegance of motor yachts from American yachting’s golden era while moving the needle forward in contemporary yacht design and engineering.  In keeping with her dual mission as a private vessel and an exclusive luxury charter yacht, hospitality and comfort are emphasized on every deck.

Nothern StarMoran Yachts will be presenting the 247’ Northern Star, built by Lürssen of Germany. This exploration yacht boasts an exceptional range of 8,500 nautical miles, coupled with very generous storage of all consumables, meaning this yacht can make long cruises to distant parts of the world, including high latitudes, as she is classed for operation in light sea ice. All of her engineering and equipment is robust with plenty of redundancy in case something gets damaged. For example, she has three generators, four stabilizer fins, two side-thrusters, and three tenders. Special equipment includes dynamic positioning and forward-looking sonar, while the communications outfit is the best available. She has six decks and exceptionally spacious accommodations for 12 guests and 22 crew. All the guest cabins are placed on the main deck and have large windows, while the owners’ suite on the upper deck has virtually horizon-to-horizon views.

Felicita WestPerini Navi 201’ Felicita West is the largest and fastest aluminum sailing yacht in the world.  Everything about this magnificent yacht has been designed to provide the ultimate sailing experience in the greatest possible comfort. The flybridge is so large that all twelve guests can sit, eat and talk in the sun or shade, surrounded by gleaming mast machinery. A large swimming platform descends from the main deck with easy access into the water or onto jet tenders. The most spectacular views are from the bow seat or a crow's nest lift that ascends 131 feet.

BacarellaTrinity Yachts Bacarella is 60 meters, or almost 200 feet, in length and was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell Design. She represents one of the larger yachts that Trinity Yachts has built. She is powered by twin CAT 3512B engines each cranking out 2,012 HP. The hull was fashioned from steel while the superstructure is aluminum. The interior of this yacht has been designed with a number of exotic woods and fabrics drawn together by Bannenberg & Rowell.  Extensive use of limestone, slate, bronze and paneled woods make up the muted color scheme of the interior. The interior was built-up by German company Metrica.
