Incredibly seaworthy and graceful, a variation of this hull has been built and utilized in the Caribbean for generations, originally with oars then motors. Although no doubt beautiful, necessity drove design. Locals needed a safe vessel to take them out 10, 20, 30 miles or more in fairly rough seas to fish of visit other islands. The upswept “trademark” bow allows the skiff to gracefully ride over waves, keeping passengers dry. A tempered deadrise as the keel meets the transom was a genius solution to the need to beach their vessels. This unique design allows for the shallow draft and deep sea capabilities.
The Calypso Classic is extremely low cost and low maintenance. A simple craft that leaves the headaches to the other boaters! With a whisper quiet 4-stroke outboard she will sip only 3 gallons per hour at near 30mph! At low speed, fuel consumption is almost imperceptible!
