FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – September 4, 2014 – There are some new sights and sounds at FLIBS this year that can be enjoyed by the marine industry and general public alike.
A new attraction, listed by Show Management as one of the “Top 13 Things To Do At FLIBS This Year” is the ‘Boat Show Film Festival’ which will be held in the Broward County Convention Center, downstairs at the South end, every day of the show, October 30th - November 3rd from 10:00AM - 7:00PM Thursday thru Sunday, and Monday 10:00AM - 5:00PM. This dedicated Cinema will showcase a variety of films alternating throughout the day including: All FYD Entries 2008 - 2013, the Best of FYD 2008 - 2013, and all 2014 FYD Entries which will feature a fun and interactive Text2Vote option for the audience to help in determining this year’s Winning yachting lifestyle short videos produced by professional yacht crew. Also showing in the Cinema will be a selection of Guy Harvey’s Ocean Conservancy Films and trailers from some of this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival movies (FLIFF). This dedicated Cinema and the combination of screenings is designed to entertain and educate the viewers.
There will also be a Sneak Preview Starlight Screening on Sunday, November 2nd, from 7:00PM - 10:00PM, for Crew, Producers, and invited VIPs, on the Jumbotron in the Food Court at Bahia Mar. This evening, viewers will get a glimpse of what’s to come at the 2014 Annual FYD Awards Ceremony, as well as watch the best 2008 - 2013 entries. Guests will have the opportunity here, too, to cast their votes by text for this year’s Winning entries.
Finally, during the entire Boat Show schedule, everyone attending will catch teasers from FYD every hour throughout the day on the Jumbotron in the Food Court at Bahia Mar, driving viewers to FortYachtieDa.com to Watch all the entries online, Vote for their favorites, and RSVP for the Awards Ceremony November 15th, from 7:00PM - Midnight.
“The support received from MIASF at FLIBS this year for Fort Yachtie Da gives the contest tremendous exposure to 100,000+ visitors attending FLIBS that we wouldn’t reach otherwise. Allowing the general population to share some of the crew’s special adventures and experiences filmed while working on yachts, will entertain and educate others outside the industry as to what life is really like living and working as crew. As well, the videos will inspire those with an interest to join the industry as crew, charter a yacht for vacations, or buy a yacht of their own, all of which supports our South Florida marine industry. It’s a win/win for everyone. We are proud of our collaboration with Guy Harvey and with the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, as well as extremely grateful to Phil Purcell, the President of MIASF, for the opportunity at FLIBS,” says Ami Ira, President/Owner of Crew Unlimited & CU Yacht Charters, Producer of FYD, and Regional Southeast Board member of the U.S. Superyacht Association, and Board Member of CYBA Charter Yacht Brokers Association.
