Hey Kids! Go Fish!
The Kids’ Fishing Clinics Are Coming To the 26th Annual Suncoast Boat Show
The Outdoor Channel’s Capt. Don Dingman of “Hook the Future” To Host Hands-On, Interactive Fishing Seminars on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 & 20
Sarasota, FL (April 9, 2008) --- Boys, girls and kids of all ages won’t want to miss this chance to learn tips on how to catch their first fish! All kids ages 4-16 can participate in the family-favorite Kids’ Fishing Clinics on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20 exclusively at the 26th Annual Suncoast Boat Show, at Ken Thompson Park/City Island, April 17 – 20.
Captain Don Dingman Gets Kids Hooked On Fishing
The kids-only fishing clinics are an interactive way to teach kids the basics of fishing fun. Guided by Captain Don Dingman, host of TV’s “Hook the Future” kids fishing show, will provide hands-on activities that enhance fishing knowledge while providing boatloads of fishing fun. Hook the Future is televised on the Water Channel, The Sportsman channel, CSS, Catch 47 and online 24/7 at www.myoutdoortv.com
Don Dingman is an expert angler who lost his 22-year old son, Brian, in 2004. This inspired Don to produce this program to show other parents how important it is to spend quality time with their own children. By going out fishing three times a month with his own dad, Don learned how precious that parent/child connection is, and how the best way to teach a kid to do something, is to simply let him/her do it. Don says, “When you take kids fishing let them drive the boat, let ’em fight the fish...that’s how they learn. It’s about taking time for your kids, giving them more love and more of yourself.”
Seminar Topics and Schedules
In-water casting on the waterfront with a rod and reel is just one of many activity stations that make up the seminar. Other activities include selecting tackle and lures, how to fight a fish, fishing safety, ethics and more.
Clinics are at 12 noon., and 2:00 p.m., and participation is limited. On-site registration starts at 10:00 a.m., with participants receiving free admission to the Boat Show and a gift pack (while supplies last) upon completion.
At the end of each seminar a kids-only raffle will be held with over $1500 of items each day, in addition to the giveaways that come with the clinic.
The Kids' Fishing Clinics are presented by Hook the Future, Show Management, and Mote Marine Laboratory.
